Design Engineer

In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in conceptualizing, designing, and developing Cutting Edge solutions to meet our customers at their point of need. Your work will directly impact industries ranging from automotive to agriculture, shaping the way people live, work, and thrive in a rapidly evolving world.

What You’ll Do:

  • Innovate: Spearhead the design and development of next-generation products.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with cross-functional teams of engineers, machinists, and customers to bring visionary concepts to life. Connecting with our customers and vendors to understand design requirements and end user function.
  • Problem-Solve: Tackle complex engineering challenges with creativity and precision, from initial concept through prototyping, testing, documenting, and production.
  • Optimize: Continuously improve designs for manufacturability, performance, and sustainability, ensuring our products exceed expectations. Investigating, identifying, and collaborating to implement cost savings using process and design.
  • Steward: Guide engineering changes through resolving print questions and product requirements with customers or vendors. Provide internal customers; machinists, quality technicians, engineers, and operators, with updated documents and information necessary to meet our customer’s needs.

Quality Technician

Are you looking for something different and rewarding? Then, working in the Quality Department at Cutting Edge Machine and Tool is for you! Partnering with and working alongside production to ensure quality product is meeting our customers needs. This is done by building great relationships with the operators that you have the opportunity to work shoulder to shoulder with. Our Quality team focuses on creating a competitive advantage for our company and our customers through partnership, on-floor inspections, and multiple tech driven measure techniques. We’re a small but rapidly growing machining and assembly team that leverages state-of-the-art machining and assembly to ensure we meet our customers at their point of need. Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections of setup parts and conduct in-process inspections to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Conduct on-the-floor part inspection audits to maintain production quality.
  • Operate and program CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) for inspections, ensuring the highest standards are met.
  • Utilize tools such as calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, height gauges, and Faro arms (preferred but not required).
  • Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards to inspections.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workstation and workspace that supports efficiency.
  • Use Lean concepts to improve processes and minimize waste.
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment, supporting colleagues as needed.
  • Follow and implement the company’s mission statement and operating principles.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of inspection results, including non-conformances and corrective actions.
  • Willing to work extended hours or additional days when overtime is necessary, as directed by the team leader.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in quality inspection, especially inspecting setup and in-process parts is desired but not required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong math skills and the ability to use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
  • Experience with CMM operation and programming is desired but not required.
  • Familiarity with Faro arm operation and programming is preferred but not required.
  • Strong working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • High school diploma, GED, or High School Equivalency required.
  • Preferably a degree or certification in CNC machining, or vocational/trade school training.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a fast learner with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Strong team player with an intentional attitude of helpfulness and collaboration.
  • Ability to work within set hours (1st shift: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM), with flexibility for overtime when necessary.

Multi Spindle Lathe Machinist

Job Description

As a machinist in our screw machine department, mechanically inclined, production minded, and customer driven are qualities that help lead to meeting our customers at their point of need. Through the work in our screw machine department, you help to feed and bring about mobility and accessibility to the world.

What you will do:

Execution: Setting up the Gildemeister GM20s to produce the world class quality component parts from 20,000 to 4,000,000 a year.

Quality: Applying inspection techniques and tools such as calipers, thread gages, height gages, visual inspection machines, as well as, a preparedness to learn new techniques and inspection equipment are part of what leads to high quality work.

Strategy: Planning and execution of a strategy through our Overall Equipment Effectiveness software play a significant factor in our on-time delivery to our customers. Learning and understanding tool life and tracking this through our tool life monitor leads to increased performance.

Collaborate: Work closely with cross-functional teams of engineers, machinists, and quality technicians to find solutions, innovate, and resolve problems.

    CNC Lathe Machinist

    As a machinist in our Turning department, mechanically inclined, production minded, and customer driven are qualities that help lead to meeting our customers at their point of need. Through the work in our Turning department, you help to feed and bring about mobility and accessibility to the world.

    Execution: Setting up CNC lathes to provide world class on time delivery through our production capabilities. Through hands-on training, understanding, and application your programming skills lead to higher levels of execution and opportunities.

    Quality: Applying inspection techniques and tools such as calipers, thread gages, height gages, visual inspection machines, as well as, a preparedness to learn new techniques and inspection equipment are part of what leads to high quality work.

      Milling Machinist

      Job Description

      Our Milling department is looking to add a machinist in the vertical and secondary milling area. We are looking for someone with previous experience in machine particularly CNC Milling on mills. Below are some expectations and responsibilities in this position:

       

      Responsibilities:

      • Able to read and interpret blueprints.
      • Inspecting parts throughout shift using various technics and tools such as calipers, thread gages, height gages, and other various gages.
      • Machining parts on vertical mills, primarily, and performing secondary operations based upon requirements and specifications to each job.
      • Maintain proper fluid levels on the machines you are operate on.
      • Maintain a safe, clean environment.

      Qualifications:

      • A mid to high level of mechanical aptitude.
      • Open to continuous improvement and implementation of improvements.
      • Able to work well with others on in your department as well as across the organization as needed.

      • Previous experience in setting up CNC Mills is preferred but not required. An openness to learn setting up vertical mills is expected.
